Integrated kitchens need a bit more time
A lot of dishwashers around Shell Cove, Flinders and the newer streets of Albion Park are integrated behind a cabinet door and screwed up into a stone benchtop. The repair itself is often simple. What takes time is sliding the machine out without lifting a benchtop edge or scratching the floor, and lining the cabinet door up again afterwards. Tell us when you book that it is integrated so the right amount of time is set aside.
The faults behind most bookings
- Water sitting in the base. Filter, drain hose or drain pump, in that order.
- Not filling. The tap, the inlet hose, the inlet valve or the float switch. We wrote a longer piece on a dishwasher that won't fill.
- Dishes still dirty or gritty. Blocked spray arms, a dirty filter, or a heater that has stopped working.
- Flood or overflow code. Water in the base tray has tripped the safety float. Something is leaking inside the machine and the code will keep coming back until that leak is found.
- Won't start at all. A door switch, a door that is not latching, or a control fault.
Checks you can do safely
Pull out the filter at the bottom of the tub, rinse it under the tap and refit it. Spin the spray arms by hand and poke out any holes clogged with seeds or labels. Confirm the tap under the sink is on. If the machine shows a code, write it down with the model number from the edge of the door. Then turn it off at the wall and leave it for us.
Salt in the cupboard
Dishwashers sit beside the sink, and the cupboard under it is often damp. Close to the coast that means rust on the base tray, the hinges and the fittings. Look in there when you clean the filter. A leak that has been dripping for weeks shows up as rust long before it shows up as a puddle.
Brands we are authorised for
We hold authorised status with all 16 brands listed on this page. On dishwashers that matters most for Asko, Bosch, Westinghouse, Smeg and Fisher & Paykel, which make up most of the machines in this area.
