What it costs
- What does it cost to have someone look at my appliance?
- The assessment fee is $125, fixed. That covers a technician attending and diagnosing the fault properly rather than guessing at it from the doorway. The repair is priced separately, and you get that number before any work starts.
- Do I still pay if I decide not to go ahead with the repair?
- Yes — the $125 callout fee is payable either way. It pays for the technician attending and diagnosing the fault properly, which is work whether or not you go ahead. What you won't pay for is the repair itself: nothing is fixed and nothing further is charged until you've seen the price and said yes.
- Do you quote before you start work?
- Always. The technician diagnoses the fault first, then gives you the repair price, and you decide with the number in front of you. Nothing gets fixed on the assumption you'll wear the invoice afterwards.
- How can I pay?
- Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Afterpay. An unexpected repair bill is a lot easier to wear across four instalments.Book a repair
Getting a technician out
- How quickly can you get here?
- We're out on the road Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, and Saturdays by arrangement. Shellharbour City and the lake suburbs are one service area rather than tiers, so if a technician is already down this end and you ring early, same day is often realistic.
- Do you cover my suburb?
- We cover Shellharbour, Shell Cove, Oak Flats, Albion Park, Warilla, Flinders, Barrack Heights, Blackbutt, Albion Park Rail, Mount Warrigal, Lake Illawarra, Windang, Primbee, Dunmore, Calderwood, Tullimbar, Haywards Bay and Croom. - Who covers Wollongong and the northern suburbs?

- What should I have ready when I call?
- The brand, the model number and what the appliance is actually doing, plus the error code if there's one on the display, and your suburb. Most of the time that's enough to work out what part the technician should bring, which is the difference between finishing on the first visit and having to come back.
What we work on
- Which appliances do you repair?
- Six categories: washing machines, dishwashers, ovens and cooktops, fridges and freezers, dryers and rangehoods. If it's a domestic appliance, it's plugged in and it's stopped, it's worth a call.
- Do you repair commercial kitchen equipment?
- No. Domestic appliances only — we don't take on commercial kitchen equipment.
- Which brands do you work on?
- Every major domestic brand sold in Australia, and the ones that turn up in Illawarra project homes: Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux, Westinghouse, Samsung, LG, Smeg, Asko, Haier, AEG, Beko and Omega. Have the model number handy when you call and we can often arrive with the part already on the van.Brands we service
- Do you warrant your own repairs?
- Yes. Work we complete is covered by our warranty, so if the same fault comes back on a repair we've done, we come back and sort it out. Ask about the terms for your specific job when the technician gives you the price.
- My appliance is still under manufacturer warranty. Should I call you?
- Check the paperwork first. If the machine is still in warranty, the manufacturer's own repair channel should be your first call, not us. Where we come in is everything past that point, and the awkward faults warranty repairers won't touch: installation problems, water pressure, cabinetry, and the appliances a builder supplied that nobody can find the paperwork for.
Repair or replace
- What if the appliance isn't worth repairing?
- We'll tell you, and tell you why. A sealed-tub bearing failure on an eight-year-old washer, or a dead control board on a budget machine, usually costs more to fix than the machine is worth. We'd rather you heard that before you paid for a repair than after.How we work out repair or replace
- Why do appliances near the water fail earlier?
- Salt. Appliances in laundries a few hundred metres from open water corrode years earlier than the same model three suburbs inland. Fridge condenser coils, rangehood housings and washing machine cabinets go first. It's the biggest single difference between working this patch and working the escarpment side, and it's what a technician checks here before anything else.
