New estate, warranty-age appliances
Flinders is mostly newer builds on the rise behind Shell Cove, and a lot of the appliances are still within manufacturer warranty or only just outside it. That's worth checking before you book anything: if the machine is under warranty, the manufacturer's own repair channel should be your first call, not us.
Where we come in is everything past that point, and the awkward faults warranty repairers won't touch — installation problems, water pressure, cabinetry, and the appliances the builder supplied that nobody can find paperwork for.
Installation faults dressed up as appliance faults
A meaningful share of what we attend in new estates isn't a broken appliance at all.
A dishwasher that leaves water in the base can be a drain hose that was never looped high enough behind the cabinet, so the sink drains back into the machine. A washing machine that fills forever can be a tap that's only half open or an inlet filter clogged with the debris that comes through new pipework. A rangehood that doesn't seem to extract can be a duct that terminates in the roof cavity rather than outside.
None of those are parts jobs, and they're all worth ruling out. If we find one, you get told what it is and what it needs, not a quote for a pump.
Induction and pyrolytic quirks
Two things come up repeatedly in these kitchens.
Induction cooktops that shut down partway through cooking are almost always a ventilation or cooling-fan issue rather than a failed element, and it gets worse in summer. Pyrolytic ovens sometimes keep the door locked after a clean cycle — twenty minutes with the power off at the wall usually releases it.
Neither is a sign the appliance is failing.
Brands through the estate
The builder packages here run heavily to Bosch, AEG, Westinghouse, Smeg and Haier. Parts distribution into the Illawarra for all of them is good, so where something does need ordering it's usually days rather than a fortnight.
Have the model number ready when you call. On an integrated dishwasher it's on the door rim; on a wall oven it's behind the drawer or on the door frame. With the model and the error code we can often turn up with the part already on the van.
