Appliance repair, round the lake

Shellharbour Service Company is the Shellharbour arm of a family-run Illawarra repair business that has been on the tools for over 40 years.

Who we are

We repair domestic appliances — washers, dryers, dishwashers, fridges, ovens, cooktops and rangehoods — across Shellharbour City and the suburbs around Lake Illawarra. Not a franchise, not a call centre: the person who answers the phone knows the technician who will turn up.

Shellharbour Service Company sits alongside Wollongong Service Company, which covers Wollongong & the northern Illawarra. Both are part of the WSCO group, which means a shared workshop, shared parts stock and the same technicians — with a van already down this end of the lake most days.

How we quote

The assessment fee is $125, fixed, and it covers a technician attending and diagnosing the fault properly rather than guessing at it from the doorway. You get the repair price before any work starts.

If a machine isn't worth repairing, we say so. A sealed-tub bearing failure on an eight-year-old washer, or a dead control board on a budget machine, usually costs more to fix than the thing is worth. We would rather tell you that up front than after you've paid.

Why salt air matters here

Appliances in laundries a few hundred metres from open water corrode years earlier than the same model three suburbs inland. Fridge condenser coils, rangehood housings and washing machine cabinets go first. It's the single biggest difference between working this patch and working the escarpment side, and it changes what we check before anything else.
