We'll be blunt about the board

Beko sits at a price point where the arithmetic of repair is genuinely tight, and pretending otherwise wastes your money.

If the fault is the main control board on one of the cheaper models, the part plus the labour can land close enough to the price of a new machine that we will not recommend doing it. That is not a judgement on the brand. It is what happens whenever a single component is a large fraction of the appliance's value.

We say this on the phone where we can, because a callout to be told that is a callout you'd rather not have paid for.

Almost everything else is worth doing

Which is the other half of the story, and the half that gets lost.

Pumps, seals, filters, hoses, door catches, heating elements — the parts that actually fail most on these machines are inexpensive and available, and fitting them to an otherwise sound machine is straightforward. A Beko with a mechanical fault is not a write-off, and it annoys us when people are told it is.

The seal failure specific to this brand is worth naming. On front loaders the door seal tends to split along the bottom fold, where water sits between cycles. Because the split is at the bottom and the fold hides it, the machine leaks only during a spin, when the seal is under pressure and the water is moving. People chase a leak that appears once a week and can't find the source, because the seal looks perfect with the door open.

The filter is the maintenance job

Beko pump filters clog faster than most brands we attend. That is a design characteristic rather than a fault, and it is easily managed.

Clear it every few months. There's a small flap at the bottom front of the machine, a towel goes down first because the drum still holds water, and the filter unscrews. It is a five-minute job that prevents the most common reason we get called to these machines.

The same principle applies to the dishwashers. The base filter is designed to be lifted out and rinsed, and a machine that has never had it done will eventually complain about draining, then about how well it washes.

Two years old and already misbehaving

We get this call often enough to address it directly, because people ring embarrassed, as though a machine failing early reflects on their choice.

It usually doesn't reflect on anything. A budget machine that faults inside its first couple of years is far more often one component that was never right than evidence the whole appliance is junk. It is also, at that age, very probably somebody else's problem to fix.

So: find the receipt before you find a repairer. Beko's own arrangements are the ones that apply while the factory is still standing behind the machine, and an outside repairer opening it up in that window can quietly end that arrangement. We are not their service agent, so on anything still in date the answer you get from us is to ring them. Once it lapses, come to us.

Fridges

Straightforward machines and generally repairable. The one thing worth knowing here is where you live. Close to the water, condenser coils fur up with a mix of dust and salt residue, and a fridge that cannot shed heat runs continuously without ever getting properly cold.

That looks like a dying fridge and usually isn't. It's covered properly here, and cleaning the coils is worth doing before you book anyone.
